This might surprise you to know but your student ID can be used for more than just a school identifier. Such as, free or discounted public transportation, and discounts all around Clermont.. A few weeks back I was in class and talking to other students and was shocked they didn’t know that with a student ID you could get discounts on streaming services and local places.
For starters Hulu seems to be the most friendly to students. Hulu has a 75% off for students which means we only need to pay $1.99 a month compared to the normal $7.99. Trust me that makes a big difference. Peacock also offers a similar deal of $1.99. Also, for my music lovers out there Spotify offers $5.99 a month compared to their normal $10.99 a month. They also include Hulu with ads in their purchase so you can save the extra $1.99 on Hulu alone. Netflix is one of the few streaming platforms with no discount for students, like what’s up with that Netflix? If you’re disappointed in Netflix you should try the local movie theaters. Epic Theaters offer a discount if you show your school ID. The best discount Epic Theaters offers is if you go on a Tuesday because they offer ANYONE a $6 ticket. So it’s truly a win-win for everyone.

If you’re having difficulties getting to any of the LSSC campuses there is a bus route that goes on 50 from Mascotte to Winter Garden stopping at the Lake Sumter Campus. If you’re at the Leesburg Campus they have a bus that goes on 27. I mostly use the one for route 50 but you could get anywhere you need as long as you show your student ID, they will let you on for free. The bus does not operate on weekends but they have told me that will change in November of 2026.
I know with college and life things are expensive but there are discounts and ways that LSSC is helping you. So you don’t have to be stuck worrying about transportation or late night study music. There are so many great deals for students so don’t be afraid to ask. Do you research! Whatever you need or want, once you pull out that student ID, well the world is your oyster.
